Men’s Indoor Track: Bombers open season at Cornell Relays

The men’s indoor track team competed in its first meet of the 2011-12 season yesterday when they competed at the Cornell Relays in Cornell University’s Barton Hall.

Junior Joseph Lu had the Bombers’ top time in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 27th place with a time of 16:56.42. Freshman Anthony Altobelli, junior Chris Lotsbom and senior Tyler Murray rounded out the Bomber competitors in the event, finishing 29th, 30th and 32nd respectively. Junior Nathan Bickell finished sixth in the 3,000-meter run, completing the event in 8:49.06

Elsewhere in the meet, the squad of freshmen Evan Kelly, Nicholas Athanasatos, Jason Klem and Steve Derderian finished 10th in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 8:29.04. Junior Matt Confer finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.97 seconds, senior Doug Koury finished 10th in the 300-meter dash in 36.20 seconds and sophomore Brennan Edmonds finished 17th in the long jump, traveling 6.20 meters.

The Bombers return to action at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 when they compete in the Cornell Upstate Challenge at Cornell University.
