Men’s Soccer: Bombers lose second straight game

The men’s soccer team lost 2–1 today against Nazareth College. The team is now 4–7–1 on the season and 3–2–0 in Empire 8 Conference play.

The Golden Flyers dominated the first half of play, resulting in 12 shots to the Bombers’ one. The game remained scoreless however.

Nazareth College opened up the scoring five minutes into the second half when junior back Jimmy Gaffney headed in a corner kick. The Golden Flyers struck again in the 62nd minute when sophomore midfielder Ryan Foley redirected a corner kick to sophomore forward Luke Elston, who volleyed the ball past the goalie.

The Blue and Gold got on the board in the 82nd minute, as freshman midfielder Adam Tamburello scored from the right side of the penalty area. The Bombers almost scored the equalizer two minutes later, but junior back Ryan Norland’s shot hit the left post.

Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Gentile played all 90 minutes and made nine saves.
