During the 2024 season, the Ithaca College baseball team has dealt with persistent weather delays. The South Hill Squad has played only three games on Freeman Field thus far, compared to the 10 originally scheduled.

With upstate New York weather being as unpredictable as it is, the Ithaca College baseball team has had to make numerous adjustments this season to accommodate a weather-intolerant field. Freeman Field is a natural dirt and grass field, not a synthetic surface, which means it cannot be plowed or played on while wet.

When first baseman Laura Remia ’01 smacked 10 home runs in her inaugural college season, she etched her name into the Ithaca College softball record books with one of the best power-hitting seasons the school had ever seen.

On the afternoon of April 16, the Ithaca College baseball team took on the SUNY Oswego State Lakers in an out-of-conference matchup at Valesente Diamond at Freeman Field. The Lakers controlled the game from the first pitch and defeated the Bombers 11-6.

The Ithaca College softball team fought, but came up short 9–3 against the Division I Cornell University Big Red April 16 at Niemand-Robison Softball Field.

The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team took home yet another key Liberty League win on April 13 against the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers. The Bombers swept up the Engineers in a 20–5 win during one of the rainiest games they may have had yet this season.

Konstrinsky Field hosted what may have been The Ithaca College softball team’s biggest challenge of the season to date came on April 12, as the Bombers were swept in a doubleheader by the No. 18 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers by scores of 4–2 in 10 innings and 7–5 in nine. Despite the sweep, the pitching efforts of junior pitcher Anna Cornell were enough to make history on the Bombers’ ground.

In 2023, the Ithaca College softball team played three pitchers throughout its season, all of which had pitched at least six innings the previous year. In 2024, the team has thrown four different pitchers onto the mound, three of which had never thrown a gametime collegiate pitch in their life.
