The SGC held a webinar Jan. 19 with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to discuss faculty and program cuts with students. At the SGC meeting, students expressed disappointment with the webinar, including the formatting of the meeting and how questions from students were addressed.

Students express concerns with faculty cuts at SGC meeting

Students expressed concerns about the draft proposal for faculty and program cuts at the Student Governance Council (SGC) meeting Jan. 25. 
At the All Student and Family Gathering on March 25, La Jerne Cornish, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, announced that the college is planning to be fully open for Fall 2021.

Members of the Ithaca College Faculty Council expressed confusion and dissatisfaction with the recommendations for program and department cuts.
The Ithaca College Office of Student Affairs and Campus Life hosted a virtual All Student and Family Gathering to provide new and returning students with information for Fall 2022. 

IC releases draft proposal for faculty and program cuts

he Ithaca College Academic Program Prioritization Implementation Committee (APPIC) released a draft of the “Shape of the College” document.
In a Dec. 14 email to the college community, Ithaca College President Shirley M. Collado called the behavior unacceptable and referred to it as an act of vandalism. She said that it was disrespectful to do this on the same day as the December Graduation Celebration. 

Collado condemns display protesting faculty and staff cuts

President Shirley M. Collado condemned a display of signs and markings calling for financial transparency amid faculty, staff and program cuts.
The college is currently conducting a review, called the Academic Program Prioritization (APP), of all of its academic programs in which programs will be identified for discontinuation, consolidation, reorganization or growth. This could result in the elimination of entire departments and tenured faculty members losing their jobs.

Faculty Council discusses protections for faculty of color

The Faculty Council discussed amending the Faculty Handbook to prevent faculty of color from being disproportionately affected by faculty cuts.
The Contingent Faculty Union urged the college’s administration to be creative in its attempts to save money amid the COVID-19 pandemic and to support contingent faculty members, who are most at risk of being laid off.

Faculty Council to hold town hall discussing faculty cuts

The Ithaca College Faculty Council is planning to hold a town hall to discuss alternatives to faculty cuts during its Nov. 10 meeting.
The Ithaca College Presidential Search Committee has announced that it has picked an executive search firm to use in the search for the 10th president of the college.
