SGC discusses mental health, emergency notifications and the APP

La Jerne Cornish, interim president of Ithaca College, met with the Student Governance Council (SGC) and discussed concerns around mental health and more.
Scott McWilliams, director of dining services; Reginald Briggs, associate director of dining services; and Dave Prunty, executive director of auxiliary services, met with the SGC to discuss several aspects of the dining services.

SGC discusses dining hall services and appoints new members

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council (SGC) met with representatives from dining services to discuss reopening plans for the spring  semester at its Oct. 25 meeting.  
Freshmen Paloma La Valley and Noah Richardson were elected as Class of 2025 senators, freshman Vincent Tavernese was elected as the School of Music senator, sophomore Casey Ingraham was elected as transfer senator and junior Lauren Hitesman was elected as varsity athlete senator.

SGC confirms two senators and senate chair

At its final meeting of the 2020–21 academic year, the Ithaca College Student Governance Council confirmed the senate chair and two new senators and announced the chief of staff.
IC Us Together is composed of juniors Reed Pollard as president, Anna Costa as vice president, Mark Scaglione as chief of staff, Jill Choinski as director of finance, Cat Fox as director of marketing and Erika Liberati as director of communications.

Senior council elections held separately from SGC elections

New group aims to promote COVID-19 safe dating on-campus

Five Ithaca College sophomores created the group to provide coronavirus-related dating information in a manner that students will be receptive to.
The Ithaca College Republicans posted a now-deleted tweet, saying, “Whatever goes around comes back around,” at 3:35 p.m. Jan. 6, in reference to the rioters orchestrating a violent insurrection against the federal government and storming the U.S. Capitol Building, forcing it to go into lockdown.

Students hold event to discuss ways to address racism at IC

The Ithaca College SGC and the Students of Color Coalition (SOCC) hosted the Stand for Justice webinar Oct. 6 to discuss ways to address racism at the college.
The 2020 Ithaca College Voting Act recommends that students will be excused from classes to vote on Election Day. The Excused Absence for Poll Workers Recommendation asks the college to give students who are working at polls an excused absence.

SGC passes bills to encourage student voting in the election
