Two Ithaca College Circle Apartments were broken into Aug. 16, the most recent contributions to a year with more crime in the Circles apartments than the previous year. Both of the apartments that were broken into Aug. 16 were accessed through unlocked sliding back doors such as the one pictured above.

Junior Sean Gillen repeatedly woke up with an uneasy feeling in his Ithaca College Circle Apartment the night that a stranger was outside his bedroom, stealing his television and speaker.
A popular Twitter account used by Ithaca College students — IC Crushes — was suspended the morning of April 18.  IC Crushes is a Twitter account that allowed students to submit “crushes” about other students anonymously through a Google document.

Public Safety reports “forcible touching” incident on campus

The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is investigating a report of “forcible touching” reported on campus around 11:50 p.m. April 16 near the tennis courts and parking lot S, according to the Public Safety Alert sent to the campus community.
Roger Richardson, associate provost for diversity, inclusion and engagement, was announced by President Tom Rochon on Nov. 10 as the interim chief diversity officer. According to a recent announcement, it is unclear whether a permanent person will be hired for the position.

Ithaca College clarifies progress and holdups on diversity plan

In a recent announcement, the college laid out parts of the diversity action plan that are on track — such as developing a Fall 2016 campus-climate survey — and parts of the plan that are falling behind — such as developing a community review board for the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management.
Michele Lee ’13 and her mother, Cathy Lee, hosted a fundraiser Feb. 20 at the Dryden Hotel, which they called “Miles for Michele,” to raise money toward Lee’s goal of $10,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Ithaca alumna runs Boston Marathon for suicide prevention

Michele Lee '13 will run in the Boston Marathon on April 18 on a team of five people representing the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Since the string of incidents over winter break, students have been offered the option to pick up wooden blocks to be inserted inside the track of their sliding doors. The wooden block forces the door into the closed position without requiring expensive modifications.

A rape in the third degree reportedly occurred between 1:15 a.m. and 4 a.m. Jan. 22 near Boothroyd Hall at Ithaca College.
