Ithaca College SGA lays out plans for 2016–17 academic year

The Ithaca College Student Government Association executive board has laid out two concrete subjects that it sees as important to pursue this year: Title IX and voter registration. The board is also emphasizing a more flexible approach to policies and issues it decides to take on based on what is important to students.

Administrative departures create uncertainty for academic year

Ithaca College's senior leadership has seen a significant number of administrative departures, leaving the college with uncertainty about what will be accomplished throughout the remainder of his tenure.

IC administration lists priorities at All-College Meeting

The Ithaca College administration took a different approach to the biannual All-College Meeting on Aug. 18. Instead of the traditional meeting structure consisting of updates on the budget, enrollment data or upcoming initiatives, President Tom Rochon focused on two “commitments” to the campus community — diversity and inclusion, and shared governance.

Full­-time contingent faculty at Ithaca College vote to unionize

Full­-time contingent faculty members at Ithaca College have voted to form a union with Service Employees International Union Local 200United, according to a press release issued May 24. They elected to unionize in a 23–13 vote out of 47 eligible voters, said Zeke Perkins, organizer for SEIU Local 200United.
The Ithaca College Shared Governance Task Force held listening sessions to solicit feedback from the campus community March 1, 2 and 3. Since then, key individuals involved in this process say there are still issues that need to be resolved and communicated to the campus community.

As the Shared Governance Task Force prepares to meet with the Ithaca College Board of Trustees this month to provide an update on its progress, key individuals involved in this process say there are still issues that need to be resolved and communicated to the campus community.
This announcement follows the committees decision to close the search in December to ensure the confidentiality of the candidates.

President Rochon creates goals for remainder of his presidency

The Ithaca College leadership has narrowed its areas of focus for the last 17 months of President Tom Rochon’s tenure. The college will focus on enhancing academics, strengthening engagement and growing the financial health of the college, while also continuing work on shared governance and diversity and inclusion.
As student body president, senior Dominick Recckio said he believes Ithaca College has not been considering the views and service of its constituents in making decisions and visions for the future.

The Ithaca College Board of Trustees asked the Faculty Council to pick two faculty members to serve on a task force evaluating the governance structure at the college.
