In another season of drastic change at New York Fashion Week, the runway shows were scarce, but their impact was powerful.
Ithaca College students, faculty and staff celebrated First Bomber Weekend on campus Sept. 1–4 with A Cappella performances, yoga classes and fireworks.
Bob Iger ’73, high-caliber Ithaca College alumnus and CEO of Disney, came to visit his alma mater Oct. 26 to speak to the college community.
The Park School will offer an animation minor, and H&S will offer linguistics and translation minors. The three minors will include classes that are new to the college and classes that already exist.
Ithaca College senior Gabby Jorio is using her passions for art history and fashion to revolutionize the fashion industry and society’s definition of beauty.
Twelve percent of U.S. private-sector workers have access to paid family leave through their employer, according to the U.S. Department of Labor website. While Ithaca College is part of this 12 percent, some faculty on campus said they wish there were clearer guidelines regarding parental leave.
After a year of preparatory school at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, Aguirre injured her foot and left the military to pursue her career in art.
“This is a college that really needs healing, and we need to help people of color and people of other marginalized identities affirm themselves,” Walker said.
“I think, even though we’ve come a long way, even in places like Ithaca College, where we’re very liberal and we are very open-minded to a lot of ideas, mental illness is still considered taboo, and there’s still a large stigma surrounding it that prevents people from being open to talking about it,” he said. “I think if we get the conversation going, it might spread.”
