A speech by journalist Robert Fisk scheduled for tomorrow night will be postponed because of severe weather conditions in Lebanon, where Fisk is on assignment.
Melissa Gattine, special programs public relations coordinator for the Roy H. Park School of Communications, said Fisk described conditions in Lebanon as the worst storm the region has seen since the 1950s. Heavy rains delayed his flight from Beirut Wednesday morning, Tuesday evening EST. The four-hour setback made it impossible for him to arrive in New York in time for his speech.
Fisk’s public lecture, “Observations on the U.S. and the Middle East,” will be rescheduled for a later date.
“We have every intention to get him back here,” Gattine said.
Fisk was set to speak at the college as part of the Park Distinguished Visitor Series.
