College employee dies after battle with cancer

Linda Everett, a business operations specialist for Web, systems and departmental services, died Saturday night after a battle with cancer.

Beth Rugg, manager for user support services in Information Technology Services (ITS), said Everett had a generous spirit and was particularly active with the Caring and Sharing Committee organized by Ithaca College.

“[She was a] headstrong, independent woman,” Rugg said. “She was a fighter, but she also cared a lot about people.”

According to an Intercom alert released this morning by Carl Sgrecci, vice president of finance and administration, Everett had been an employee of the college since 1990.

Calling hours for Everett will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home in Watkins Glen with funeral services to follow.

Donations to the Linda Everett Memorial Fund can be sent to Mary Ellen Fraboni, 115 14th Street, Watkins Glen, NY 14891.
