For the first time this season the No. 24 baseball team lost consecutive games as they fell to No. 15 SUNY-Cortland 8–3 yesterday at Cortland.
Cortland got ahead quickly, scoring one run in each of the first three innings. Senior second baseman Dylan Perez brought the Bombers to within one with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth, but the Red Dragons continued to score.
The South Hill squad used six pitchers in the game. Junior pitcher Tom Fishback made the start and lasted only two innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He fell to 2–3 on the season. The pitching staff allowed a combined 13 hits on the game.
Senior pitcher Pete MacDaniel and freshman pitcher Brian Eggleston kept Cortland off the board as the game was winding down, but the damage was already done.
The Bombers return home to continue their season with two double headers against Stevens Institute of Technology beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at Freeman Field.
