This semester I’m spending four months in London studying abroad through Ithaca College. As daunting of a step it was to sign away a semester of my life in a foreign country, I’m starting to get more acclimated to the place and oddly enough am feeling very much at home.
And of course, one of the most exciting prospects of being here is seeing the amazing theater that the city has to offer. I’ve seen two shows in the two weeks I’ve been here and am looking forward to seeing more.
Conventions in London theater are not much different than in the states, so it’s not a culture shock seeing a show here…aside from the accents in most plays. Musicals are in short supply (at least original ones) as musical theater is a genre of live performance that America can make something of a claim to. The big shows are still here, though (Chicago, The Lion King, Billy Elliot, etc.)
So I’m looking forward to keeping you all posted on theater in the UK, in addition to the usual pop culture news and views. Until next time, cheers!
