The men’s soccer team fell to SUNY-Oneonta 3-0 Saturday in Oneonta, N.Y. Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Gentile made his first career start and registered two saves. The Blue and Gold’s offense struggled, taking just three shots on goal; two of them by freshman forward Zach Hutchinson.
The match was scoreless until the 39th minute when SUNY-Oneonta scored on a volley off a cross to beat Gentile. The first half ended with the Bombers trailing 1-0. SUNY-Oneonta opened the game up in the second half, scoring in the 65th minute on a shot inside the box and again in the 89th minute off a corner kick.
The two teams were scheduled to take part in a tournament over the weekend, but that was canceled due to inclement weather. The South Hill squad returns to action 7 p.m. Tuesday at SUNY-Cortland.
