The volleyball team went 2-2 in the Bomber Invitational this weekend, winning both matches on Friday before dropping both matches on Saturday in Ben Light Gymnasium.
The Bombers dispatched Rutgers-Newark 3-0 before defeating SUNY-Brockport 3-1 on Friday. Senior Chelsea Hayes led the Bombers’ attack with 19 kills in the two wins.
The Blue and Gold could not carry over the momentum from the first day of the tournament however, as they fell to SUNY-Geneseo in five sets Saturday. The Blue Knights took a 2-0 advantage before the Bombers stormed back in the third and fourth sets, but then fell 16-14 in final frame.
The South Hill squad then lost to Empire 8 conference rival St. John Fisher College in straight sets.
Junior Marissa Weil was named to the all-tournament team after leading the Bombers with 34 kills over the four games.
