The men’s soccer team played to a scoreless tie Tuesday at SUNY-Cortland.
Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Gentile got his first career shutout, as he played all 110 minutes. He made three saves, none more important than a save of a header in the second overtime.
Led by freshman back Chris Voehl, who had four shots on goal, and sophomore forward James Shankland, who had three shots of his own, the Blue and Gold outshot the Red Dragons 15–11. Seven of those shots were on goal, as the Bombers were able to generate more offense than they had been in previous games. They were not able to produce any goals and their scoreless streak now stands at 270 minutes.
The South Hill squad returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday against St. John Fisher College on Carp Wood Field. The game will serve as the Bombers’ home and Empire 8 conference game.
