All good things must come to an end, and today I’m saying goodbye to NYFW. I have to admit that many of the collections towards the end were my favorites and that has nothing to do with the fact that Marc Jacobs moved his show to 8:30 pm on Thursday night. Or the fact that I’m OBSESSED with Marc Jacobs. Let’s take a look at some of best looks from the last days of NYFW.
Oscar de la Renta brought all the trademarks of his classically feminine style to NYFW, but kept it fresh and modern. I loved his wry interpretation of current trends (maxi skirts and boxy crop tops a la Oscar = red ball gown full skirt and lace crop top).
Meanwhile, Phillip Lim showed a pastel concoction of a collection that made me think of Miami Vice – that is, if Miami Vice was cool, collected and sophisticated like the ladies below.
Perfect for spring, right? And those sorbet colors look good enough to eat.
But moving on….I was pleasantly surprised to see that J.Crew was everything that personified Spring 2012 – bright colors, excellent, sleek construction and just the right measure of quirkiness. Surprised? Yes – J.Crew has always brought to mind suburban vanilla-ness – very cute vanilla-ness, mind you – but vanilla-ness nonetheless. But this season has definitely defied that – take a look!
BUT my absolute favorite designer of all time…ahem…MARC JACOBS put together a fab show tonight. Quality pictures have not been posted yet, but thanks to Twitter, I can see that it was theatrical, sparkly and brilliant! Here’s a little peek:
