Women’s Cross Country: Blue and Gold take second place at SUNY-Cortland

The women’s cross-country team scored 34 points and finished second overall behind host and rival SUNY-Cortland at yesterday’s Jack Daniels Invitational.

SUNY-Cortland and the Bombers are currently ranked sixth and seventh in the Atlantic Region respectively, and this race solidified the talent of both teams.

Senior captain Heidi Baumbach was the first Bomber to cross the line and second overall, finishing the 4-kilometer course in a time of 14:48.90.

Freshmen Alexa Rick also had a strong performance, finishing fifth overall in a time of 15:21.90. Molly Quinn, another senior captain, was the third Bomber to finish the race, placing 11th overall in 15:46.50.

Despite placing six runners in the top 20, SUNY-Cortland overshadowed the Blue and Gold’s success, finishing first overall with a score of 26 points.

The South Hill squad will compete in Lehigh Univesity’s Paul Short Run on Friday in Bethlehem, Pa.
