The women’s golf team lost its chance to take first place at the Martin-Wallace Invitational this weekend because of rain. The course at the Cortland Country Club was declared unplayable earlier today, which resulted in the cancellation of the second round.
The Blue and Gold finished second with a first-round score of 335, falling only to the defending national champion Methodist University.
Junior Jackie Young led the Bombers with a career-best score of 79, which was good enough for second among all competitors. Sophomore Amanda Failla was second on the team with a score of 83. Freshmen Sharon Li and Kelsey Baker finished with scores of 84 and 89, respectively.
The South Hill squad will compete in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships next weekend at the Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York.
