Despite not placing a runner higher than 7th place overall, the women’s cross-country’s sub-varsity squad won the Cazenovia Homecoming Invitational on Saturday. Runners who did not run at Friday’s Paul Short Run at Lehigh University competed for the Blue and Gold.
Sophomore Kayla Mason led the way for the Bombers, finishing the five-kilometer course in 23:08. Freshman Emily Smith finished One second behind her.
The Bombers were able to seal a victory by placing three more runners in the top 15. Freshmen Meghan Cass and Carolyn Malone crossed the line in 10th and 11th place respectively, and sophomore Kim Allen finished 12th.
Freshmen Trish Ignatowski and Melanie Pond rounded out the Bombers’ top seven. Ignatowski crossed the line in 23:44, which gave her a finish of 21st overall, while Pond was 22nd with a time of 23:48.
The entire South Hill squad will compete at the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday.
