The men’s soccer team lost 1-0 today at Stevens Institute of Technology. The Ducks maintained their perfect Empire 8 Conference record, while the Bombers experienced their first loss in conference play. The teams are now first and second respectively in the Empire 8 standings.
The Blue and Gold’s defense surrendered an early goal in the 23rd minute. Ducks junior forward Zach Adler played junior forward Victor Daza into space. Daza then made a move and shot the ball high past the goalkeeper.
The Bombers threatened to tie the score in the closing minutes with a slew of corner kicks, but were not able to find the equalizer. They took a total of 12 shots, but only two on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Gentile started for the Bombers and made five saves. The South Hill squad returns to action Saturday with a road game against Empire 8 Conference opponent Nazareth College.
