The women’s swimming and diving team was victorious against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute yesterday, finishing the meet with a score of 183-111. Individual sophomores took first in eight out of the 10 first places.
Sophomore Kait Sessler was a triple-event winner, while sophomore Korie Fackler and freshmen Megan Buisman were both double event winners for the Blue and Gold.
Sessler won the won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle, and was also the anchor leg of the first place 200-meter relay team. Her individual times in the freestyles were 55.84 seconds and 2:01.95 respectively.
Buisman won the 100-meter backstroke and the 500-yard freestyle, finished with times of 1:01.70 and 5:30.48 respectively.
Fackler was the winner of both diving events, with scores of 228.75 on the 1-meter board and 247.50 on the 3-meter board.
Sophomore Shelby Pascoe added to the sophomore supremacy with a commanding 29-second victory over the field in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:08.76.
Freshmen Kylie Bangs, junior Carly Jones, senior Cali DeSanto, and Sessler won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:54.93.
The South Hill squad will host rival SUNY-Cortland on Saturday at the Athletics and Events Center Pool.
