If you know anything about my style blogger obsession, you probably know that my favorite blogger of all time is The Man Repeller, Leandra Medine. Her philosophy about clothing can be summed up in her pithy Twitter bio: Love a good bow tie, never met a drop crotch I didn’t like. Coined the Arm Party™. Not leopard? Not interested. Need more of an explanation of the term “man repeller?” Here’s another enlightening definition via themanrepeller.com: outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs. In short, Ms. Medine, who has a wicked sense of humor, advocates that women dress for themselves, irregardless of what men may find attractive and charters her own man repelling style tactics on her hilarious and often empowering blog. However, it seems as though there’s a man out there that may just appreciate haute couture ankle boots, harem pants and turbans, because Ms. Medine posted a few days ago on The Man Repeller that she now has a man friend who does not protest her quirky fashion choices or her affinity for layers and layers of clothing…as she said on her blog…“I haven’t had to tuck back no crazy, compromise one single leopard print, foul word, or ounce of glitter. So you see, there’s hope: have your yeti, wear it too.”
