The women’s basketball team (4—0) continued its terrific start with an historic defensive effort, shutting down host SUNY-Potsdam (2—2) 66-26. The Bears’ 26 points were the fewest allowed by the Bombers since they limited Cazenovia College to 24 points in a game played Jan. 11, 2000.

The victory gave the Blue and Gold their best start since the 1997-98 season. They have won their first four games by an average of nearly 24 points.

The Bombers dominated the contest from start to finish. Potsdam failed to make a basket for the first 10:25 of the game and went just 2 for 19 shooting in the first half as the Bombers carried a commanding 32-7 lead into the halftime break.

Senior guard Jessica Farley led the South Hill squad with 18 points, five rebounds and three steals. Sophomore forward Jennifer Escobido chipped in 15 points in 26 minutes of play and sophomore guard Kathryn Campbell kept everyone involved with a career-high seven assists.

The Bombers will look to maintain their undefeated mark when they host SUNY-Cortland at 6 p.m. tomorrow night in Ben Light Gymnasium.
