Senior Jessica Hoeffner snapped an 11-year-old school record yesterday to lead the women’s indoor track team in its season opening performance at the Cornell Relays.
Hoeffner was one of six Bombers to hit Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference qualifying marks, placing third in the weight throw with a heave of 15.33 meters. The previous school record of 14.78 meters was set by Erin Stevens ’00 on Feb. 20, 2000.
Senior Emma Dewart qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championships in a pair of events. She finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.61 meters, and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.41 seconds. She finished 10th in the 300-meter dash in 42.91 seconds.
Junior Jenn Randall ran to a sixth-place in the 500-meter dash, finishing with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:20:24, while the Blue and Gold’s 3,200-meter relay squad earned the ECAC qualifying standard with a fifth-place finish.
Junior Amanda Rissmeyer placed in three events, finishing fourth in the shot put, eigth in the high jump, and 10th in the long jump.
The South Hill squad will compete in the Cornell Pentathlon on January 20.
