If you’ve read my blog for a while, you may remember me drooling over Ryan Gosling’s movie “Drive” back in September. I was infatuated with the soundtrack in particular and I included a link to French electro artist Kavinsky’s song “Nightcall.”
Apparently Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco was just as impressed with Kavinsky’s track. On his latest cut, “American Terrorist III,” Lupe samples “Nightcall” and really gets the eerie juices flowing. He spits a precautionary PSA over dramatic electro-rock to draw attention to current affairs. I can’t say I’m a fan of the random background noises that find their way into an otherwise slick and glossy track. Overall, the coupling of Lupe’s vocals and Kavinsky’s synthetic beats works well.
