An eight-point halftime deficit was too much for the men’s basketball team to overcome, as it fell to La Roche College, 80-77 yesterday in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Redhawks used a 20-8 run to end the first half with a 46-38 lead. The Bombers moved to within three points, but could not get any closer.
Sophomore forward and center Frank Mitchell scored 20 points, grabbed seven boards and had three assists. Junior guard Sean Rossi with 15, sophomore guard Christian Jordan with 13 and freshman guard Connor Rogers also registered double-digit point totals, scoring 15, 13 and 12 points respectively.
The Bombers were unable to capitalize on the Redhawks’ poor shooting from the charity stripe, as La Roche made just 64 percent of their free throws.
The South Hill squad moved to 3–7 overall with the loss and is now idle until Dec. 30 when they tip off against Wells College.
