The men’s basketball team (5–8, 2–0 Empire 8) ousted Nazareth College (7–5, 1–1 Empire 8) Saturday afternoon in Ben Light Gymnasium by a score of 70-63.
Sophomore forward and center Frank Mitchell led the Blue and Gold in scoring, putting up 25 points. He leads the team in points through 15 games this season, averaging just under 18 points per game.
Senior guard Jordan Marcus and sophomore guard Christian Jordan each sunk 10 points for South Hill.
The Golden Flyers shot a measly 20 percent from three-point range, going 5–25 from downtown and shooting only 34 percent from the floor. The Bombers shot 31 percent from behind the three point arc and made half of their shots from the field.
Free throws were also a deciding factor in the contest, as the South Hill squad went 24–30 from the charity stripe while the Golden Flyers missed 50 percent of their foul shots.
The Bombers are off until an Empire 8 Conference showdown Jan. 13 at Hartwick College.
