The women’s swimming and diving team had strong contributions from its upperclassmen in yesterday, defeating the host SUNY-Fredonia Blue Devils by a score of 170-129 and Nazareth College by a score of 175-123.
Freshman Kylie Bangs was a double-event winner with first-place finishes in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke with times of 59.95 seconds and 2:11.65 respectively. She also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley.
Sophomore Shelby Pascoe was also a double-event winner, finishing the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:00.83 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:25.01. Sophomore Elizabeth Gawrys won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.71 and took second overall in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.45 seconds.
Other top performers for the Bombers included sophomore Korie Fackler, who has the team’s best diving mark of 230.40 in the 1-meter dive. Graduate student Katie Kaiser has the Bombers’ best score on the 3-meter dive after finishing with 242.45 points.
Junior Carly Jones won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.04 and was three one-hundredths of a second away from first place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Nazareth junior Carissa Risucci finished first in the event.
The Blue and Gold will look to maintain their undefeated season with a dual-meet Saturday in Rochester, N.Y.
