The gymnastics team earned itself a spot at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships after placing third at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships yesterday in Ben Light Gymnasium. The Bombers placed first in two events and had five All-ECAC honorees. This is the 27th time the team has finished in the top-three in the 29 years the meet has been held.
Senior Kimberly Callahan finished first on the balance beam with a score of 9.550, while graduate student Justine Picciano ended up in third place with a mark of 9.475 from the judges. Senior Jessica Bolduc tallied a school record-setting score of 9.875 in a three-way tie on the floor exercise.
Senior Christine Niles took second on the uneven bars with a score of 9.625, a season and career high mark. She also garnered her first All-ECAC honor.
Assistant Coach Keri Lee, who will be leaving following this season, earned the ECAC Assistant Coach of the Year Award after the meet.
The South Hill squad will compete in the NCGA Championship meet at 4:30 p.m. on March 23-24 in Brockport, N.Y.
