The baseball team finished its spring break trip in California winning five games while losing just two.

The team started the trip with two straight wins against #21 Chapman University, by scores of 3–2 on Sunday and 5–0 on Monday. Freshman pitcher John Prendergast threw a complete game shutout in the second game.

Following the sweep of Chapman University, the Bombers lost 8–4 to Whittier College on Tuesday. The team rebounded nicely Wednesday and trounced Hampden-Sydney College 24–3. The Blue and Gold set a single-game record with ten doubles in the contest.

The South Hill squad won two games Friday, starting with a 9–5 victory against Pomona-Pitzer College. The win was the 1,000th of Head Coach George Valesente’s coaching career. The team followed that milestone victory by defeating Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College 4–3 in 10 innings.

A game versus California Lutheran University scheduled for yesterday was canceled because of inclement weather.

The Bombers closed out their spring trip today with a 6–5 loss to the University of Redlands. The team is now 7—3 on the season and opens its home season with a game at 3:30 p.m. Friday against Keuka College.
