Eighteen turnovers proved costly for the men’s lacrosse team as it suffered its third straight loss today to 12th-ranked Union College 6-5 in Schenectady, N.Y.
Three straight goals in the fourth quarter turned a 4-3 deficit to a 6-4 lead for the Dutchmen. Union junior attack Nolan Connors’ second goal proved to be the game winner as he beat freshman goalie Mac Davis, who started for senior Brendan Green after Green suffered a thumb injury in the Bombers’ loss to SUNY-Oswego on Sunday.Davis recorded thirteen saves for the Bombers.
Freshman attack James Manilla scored twenty seconds after Connors to cut the Union lead to one goal. The Bombers had two extra-man opportunities afterwards but could not convert on either one.
With the loss, the no. 22 Bombers fall to 5—3 on the season. The South Hill squad will start their Empire 8 conference slate at 4 p.m. next Wednesday at Alfred University.
