For 1.5 years, I have served as a senator on the Ithaca College Student Government Association.

Junior Rob Flaherty is one of the most dedicated students at IC. As a colleague, he is supportive and inspiring. His passion for change is contagious. The rest of the board has plenty of SGA experience, so I trust that the school will be in good hands. Each member has proven he or she will fight for the student voice.

The board has built both friendships and professional relationships that when combined can improve SGA’s presence on campus and policies. Without a doubt, my vote will be going to IC Progress.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Rob Flaherty on both a personal and professional level for the past three years. On many occasions, we have had conversations on numerous issues ranging from campus pride and academic curricula to the presidential race and local politics. During these conversations, Rob has always provided practical insights on the issues at hand. In addition to his ability to break down the problem, I have noticed Rob’s excellent listening skills and brainstorming capacity. These traits are among just a few things that I think will help propel Rob into leadership roles throughout his life. With that being said, you’re only as good as the support team that surrounds you. As the entire IC Progress team set their sights on heading the Student Government Association at Ithaca College, I know they’re all going into this endeavor with the right mindset — wanting to ignite passion in students and bring a new breath of life into many areas of the campus community that have become stale. Among our many conversations about IC, Rob in particular always conveyed his opinion on issues that fall directly in the lap of the SGA. With this executive board leading the charge, I have nothing but the utmost confidence in their ability to be the voice of a very dynamic and dedicated student body at Ithaca College.
