Power returned across campus around 4:50 p.m. after going out across campus a little after 4 p.m.
The outage occurred about four miles away on Coddington Road and also affected areas across town, Master Security Officer Amy Chilson said.
According to New York State Electric and Gas, 1,927 customers were affected by the outage.
The Ithaca Police Department declined to comment.
