Don’t even tell me that hologram projections are seriously going to be the next big thing in music. Yeah, the Tupac Coachella hologram was pretty nifty, but let’s not make this a recurring thing. We still need some authenticity to our live music.
Apparently the music industry is heading in a different direction. This week, the R&B group TLC announced that they will be launching a tour sporting a film projection of deceased member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
Now at the risk of calling TLC copycats, it’s worth noting that they have done this before in 2003. They used video screens of Lopes performing the same songs and synced it with their performance. So I guess they’re really just taking advantage of emerging technologies.
Let me know when New Order reunites with hologram Ian Curtis. That jerky dancing’s going to be a little difficult to program.
