The women’s golf team capped off an impressive season Sunday with a first-place finish in the Nazareth Spring Invitational in Rochester, N.Y., handily defeating five Central New York opponents. This was the Bombers’ third victory of the season.
The first round of the tournament, played at the Monroe Golf Club, ended with the Blue and Gold on top by six strokes. The team was led by freshman Sharon Li, who topped the tournament with a stellar score of 79 through 18 holes. Freshman Kelsey Baker, who finished the first round with a score of 80, followed Li closely. Li and Baker were the tournament’s top two scorers in the first round.
The South Hill squad kept up its relentless attack in the second round, played at Ravenwood Golf Club. Finishing with a score of 351 in the second round, the Bombers finished on top of their competition in the two-day tournament. Li once again led the team with a score of 80, tallying the tournament’s best score. Kelsey Baker finished the weekend with a score of 164. Junior Jackie Young finished with a score of 173. The Bombers played with a four-person lineup during Sunday’s round. Freshman Paige Fonatana rounded out the lineup with a score of 101.
The Bombers are looking ahead to returning their entire roster for another season of golf next year.
