Forcible touching reported in Collegetown

A woman reported being forcibly touched in her Collegetown apartment at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, according to the Ithaca Police Department .

According to the police report, the victim went to answer a knock on her door, believing it to be one of her friends, and  opened it. An unknown male pushed his way into the apartment after she opened the door. The victim attempted to push the subject out of the apartment after he entered. During the physical altercation, the subject reportedly touched the victim’s genitals. Once the victim pushed the subject out of her apartment, she locked the door.

The subject was described as being a 5’9”-5’10” Hispanic college-aged male in his early 20s with short, dark brown hair and a mole or large freckle on one of his cheeks.

Because of the increased level of criminal activity, Cornell University Police are urging members of the Cornell community to make additional safety precautions, including locking doors and windows at all times, and using alternative methods of transportation such as blue light escorts, blue light buses and taxis.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should contact the Ithaca Police Department at (607) 272-9973 or the Cornell University Police at (607) 255-1111.
