Finally, some justice.
BP has agreed to pay $4.5 billion in damages – the largest criminal fine in U.S history – for its role in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion.
The company also pleaded guilty to 11 counts of felony misconduct levied at ship officers in the wake of the spill.
There are more criminal claims against the company, as well as partner companies Halliburton and Transocean, that have yet to be resolved.
