UPDATE: Center for Natural Sciences cleared after bomb threat

Ithaca College Center for Natural Sciences has been cleared after a bomb threat was deemed not credible.

Update: 4:10 p.m. Aug. 5 

As of 4:10 p.m. Aug. 5, Ithaca College has stated that the bomb threat for the Center for Natural Sciences was deemed not credible, according to a police investigation. The building can be reoccupied.

The investigation included a building sweep by K-9 bomb-sniffing dogs. Several other colleges in New York state, including SUNY Cortland and SUNY Binghamton, received similar hoax bomb threats Aug. 5.

The Ithaca College Center for Natural Sciences has been evacuated Aug. 5 following a telephoned bomb threat. Community members are instructed to avoid the area while police continue to investigate.

Campus community members received a message through IC Alert at 2:43 p.m. ET regarding the bomb threat.

The college worked with Rankin Climate, a company that assesses institutional climate and specifically works with the college’s working committee, to compile the results of the survey.  The survey was made up of 117 questions, 16 of which were open-ended. Questions from the 2016 Campus Climate Survey were used as a basis and reviewed again by the college.
