Ithaca College sophomore Reese Schenkel, a communication management and design major with a concentration in corporate communications and a double minor in sociology and politics, has been hired as the managing editor of The Ithacan for the 2025-26 academic year.
Schenkel applied for the position and was interviewed April 4 by Prakriti Panwar, incoming editor-in-chief of The Ithacan for the 2025-26 academic year, and Casey Musarra, student media adviser for The Ithacan. Schenkel was offered the position April 4 and accepted.
Schenkel began working at The Ithacan in Fall 2023 as a staff writer, was appointed as the chief copy editor in Spring 2024 and then became a proofreader for Spring 2025.
Outside of The Ithacan, Schenkel is the secretary for the Ithaca College chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, the secretary for Mimi Collage Club and is a member of IC’s Model United Nations.
