On Sept. 22, Jonathan D’Agostino was found alive and well in Pennsylvania. John Craig, spokesperson for the state Office of Parks, Recreations and Historic Preservation, confirmed to Syracuse.com that D’Agostino was found alive.Â
“We are relieved to report that a recent missing person case is over with a positive outcome,” Craig told Syracuse.com, “Jon D’Agostino has been found alive and well in Pennsylvania.”
A former Ithaca College student, D’Agostino, was declared missing by the New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation Department Sept. 10. Video footage showed him leaving the IC campus around 6:30 a.m. Sept. 7, according to the missing person release. Dave Maley, director of public relations, said D’Agostino last attended IC in Fall 2023.
Terry Fee, a State Parks police officer, said to Syracuse.com Sept. 21 that someone reported that they drove D’Agostino to Pennsylvania.Â
 D’Agostino’s mother Nicole Gates shared a video update via Instagram Sept. 21 saying she believed he was spotted heading South on Route 15 through Northern Virginia. She said in the video that he may be stopping at farm stands for food and using public libraries for internet access.
“If you live in Virginia, Maryland or anywhere along the Eastern states, please keep your eyes open,” Gates said in the video.Â
D’Agostino’s family urges people living anywhere on the East Coast to print out fliers and spread them around.
The Ithacan contacted the Office of Public Safety, which said it could not comment on the situation because it is an open investigation. Trooper Aga Tinker, a New York State Police spokesperson, confirmed to Syracuse.com that as of noon Sept. 11, D’Agostino has not been found and the search continues.Â
D’Agostino is a 20-year-old man, around 6 feet tall and 210 pounds. He has a shaved head with a dark beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray sweatshirt and a green knit hat.
Ithaca Police Department and New York State Police are searching alongside New York State Forest Rangers, volunteers and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department for D’Agostino with K9 units and drones.Â
New York State Park police found D’Agostino’s vehicle in lower Buttermilk Falls State Park with his phone and a note suggesting self-harm inside.
