The Tompkins County Board of Elections released results for the Nov. 4 general election. The results released by the Tompkins County Board of Elections are unofficial and do not include early mail-in and absentee ballots.
Residents of the City of Ithaca voted for candidates for the city’s Common Council and residents of the Town of Ithaca voted for the Town Court Judge. Both residents of the City of Ithaca and the Town of Ithaca voted for candidates for the Tompkins County Legislature. Results for contested races
Jorge DeFendini – Common Council 1st Ward
Democrat Jorge DeFendini won the 1st Ward seat on the City of Ithaca’s Common Council. DeFendini received 88.70% of the votes, Republican Zachary Winn received 9.51% of the votes, and 1.79% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Hannah Shvets – Common Council 5th Ward
Democrat Hannah Shvets won the 5th Ward seat on the City of Ithaca’s Common Council. Shvets received 64.12% of the votes, Independent G.P. Zurenda, who ran with the Affordable Ithaca Party, received 35.36% of the votes and 0.53% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Christy Bianconi – Tompkins County Legislature District 14
Democrat Christy Bianconi ’02 won the seat for District 14 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Bianconi received 57.47% of the votes, Independent Michelle E. Wright received 41.95% of the votes, and 0.57% of the votes were for write-in candidates.

Joe Kirby – Common Council 2nd Ward
Democrat Joe Kirby won the 2nd Ward seat on the City of Ithaca’s Common Council. Kirby ran unopposed and received 99.11% of the votes; 0.89% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Pat Sewell – Common Council 3rd Ward
Democrat Pat Sewell won the 3rd Ward seat on the City of Ithaca’s Common Council. Sewell ran unopposed and received 98.59% of the votes; 1.41% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Robin Trumble – Common Council 4th Ward
Democrat Robin Trumble won the 4th Ward seat on the City of Ithaca’s Common Council. Trumble ran unopposed and received 95.24% of the votes; 4.76% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Travis Brooks – Tompkins County Legislature District 1
Democrat Travis Brooks was reelected to the seat for District 1 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Brooks ran unopposed and received 98.80% of the votes; 1.20% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Veronica Pillar – Tompkins County Legislature District 2
Democrat Veronica Pillar was reelected to the seat for District 2 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Pillar ran unopposed and received 98.47% of the votes; 1.53% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Iris Packman – Tompkins County Legislature District 3
Democrat Iris Packman won the seat for District 3 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Packman ran unopposed and received 99.17% of the votes; 0.83% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Adam Vinson – Tompkins County Legislature District 4
Democrat Adam Vinson won the seat for District 4 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Vinson ran unopposed and received 96.92% of the votes; 3.08% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Judith Hubbard – Tompkins County Legislature District 5
Democrat Judith Hubbard won the seat for District 5 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Hubbard ran unopposed and received 98.03% of the votes; 1.97% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Shawna Black – Tompkins County Legislature District 6
Democrat Shawna Black was reelected to the seat for District 6 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Black ran unopposed and received 99.08% of the votes; 0.92% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Deborah Dawson – Tompkins County Legislature District 7
Write-in candidate Deborah Dawson was reelected to the seat for District 7 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Dawson ran unopposed and received 56.13% of the votes; 43.87% of the votes were for John Dennis, whose name was on the ballot but dropped out of the race.
John Hunt – Tompkins County Legislature District 12
Democrat John Hunt won the seat for District 12 of the Tompkins County Legislature. Hunt ran unopposed and received 98.74% of the votes; 1.26% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
Jim Salk – Town Court Judge
Democrat Jim Salk ’74 won reelection as the Ithaca Town Court Judge. Salk ran unopposed and received 99.46% of the votes; 0.54% of the votes were for write-in candidates.
