Gino Bona ’95, recent winner of the NFL’s “Pitch Us Your Idea for the Best Super Bowl Commercial Ever. Seriously.” contest, will give a presentation Tuesday April 17 at 10:30 a.m. in Park 220.
Before he beat out more than 10,000 other fans in the contest, Bona worked at ESPN.com for four years as a columnist, and has also worked as a copywriter, marketer, and strategist.
According to Bona, his presentation, called “Behind the Scenes: The Story of Advertising on the World’s Biggest Stage” is two-fold, featuring both a behind-the-scenes look at his contest win and some real-world advice about the advertising world.
Bona was a television-radio major with a concentration in advertising and public relations with a minor in writing while studying at the college.
He said the hands-on experience he got at the college helped him obtain a job even before he graduated. “You roll up your sleeves from day one,” he said.
Bona, who has not been back to the college in ten years, said that he is looking forward to the trip.
“It’s a thrill for me to come back and talk about what I’ve done,” he said, “and try to give some insight to students before they enter the real world.”
