In recognition of Asian Heritage Month, Ithaca College’s Asian Culture Club (ACC) has organized a series of events on campus throughout the month.
Junior Jaclyn Berberabe, ACC’s spokesperson, said the goal of the events is to defy stereotypes.

“We wanted to get the message out that no matter who you are, there are judgments made,” she said.

The events began the first week of April and will continue with the final film in the Asian Film Series, the Vietnamese drama “Cyclo,” at 7 p.m. next Thursday in Williams 225.

The club’s longest-running event, Asian Night, will take place at 7 p.m. April 27 in

IC Square.

Junior Whitney Kaiser, co-president of ACC, said in past years Asian Night, featuring cultural performances by groups from the college and Cornell University, has had about 200 attendees.

The series will conclude with a stereotype forum and talent show at 7 p.m. April 30 in IC Square. The show will serve as a creative way to defy cultural stereotypes, Berberabe said.
