Ithaca College has appointed Kathleen Rountree as provost and vice president for academic affairs, according to an Intercom alert released today by Dave Maley, associate director of Media Relations.
Rountree, the associate provost for undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will assume her duties Aug. 1. She was one of three finalists to interview for the position, interviewing with students, faculty, staff, the Faculty Council executive committee and the search committee during a two-day campus visit April 23 and 24.
Rountree succeeds Peter Bardaglio, who assumed the position of provost at the college in 2002. Bardaglio announced in January his plans to take a sabbatical this semester and resign this month. Jim Malek, former provost at the college from 1998-2001, is serving as interim provost.
