The men’s outdoor track and field team placed two athletes inside the top 10 at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Decathlon at Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. on Monday, wrapping up two days of competition there. Sophomore Alec Svoboda, who finished the meet with 5,518 points, finished fifth out of the 12 athletes. Senior Ryan Taylor finished seventh with 5,176 points.
Svoboda was in sixth place after the first day of the meet yesterday. He moved up one spot today with times of 17.66 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 4:38.26 in the 1,500-meter run as well as marks of 3.37 meters in the discus and 38.10 meters in the javelin.
Taylor wrapped up the meet today by clocking in at 18.98 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 5:12.03 in the 1,500-meter run. He recorded marks of 2.67 meters in the pole vault, 29.49 meters in the discus and 49.30 meters in the javelin.
The Bombers are in action again at 2 p.m Friday when they begin competing in the NYSCTC Championships at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
