The women’s soccer team faced nationally ranked The College of New Jersey on Saturday, defeating the Lions by a score of 2-1.
The season opener for the Bombers was a rematch of last year’s second round loss in the NCAA championship tournament. After jumping out to a 1-0 lead at halftime, The College of New Jersey seemed to be in control, but as the second half began the South Hill squad was able to get their offense together. Junior forward Rachel Palladino scored the equalizer in the 68th minute and sophomore midfielder Amanda Callahan completed the comeback in the final minute when she scored the game-winning goal. The Blue and Gold are now 1–0 on the season and will play at noon tomorrow at Elizabethtown College.
