The men’s soccer team dropped its first match of the season, losing 4-2 to Ramapo College in a tournament hosted by Rowan University. Sophomore striker James Shankland netted both goals for the Bombers.
Ramapo College took the lead four minutes in and never relinquished it. Neither team scored again until the 63rd minute when Ramapo College struck again. Ramapo College would add another goal just four minutes after to take a 3-0 lead late in the game.
In the 70th minute, Shankland deposited a direct kick from 25 yards out to cut the lead to 3-1. Ramapo College would respond three minutes later to take a 4-1 lead.
The Blue and Gold scored once more in the 90th minute, as Shankland converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Van Adelsberg started and played the whole game, making five saves.
