The volleyball team’s season got off to a rough start over the weekend, as the Bombers went 1–3 at the Red Dragon Classic at SUNY-Cortland.
The Blue and Gold split their two games on Saturday, defeating Penn State-Behrend 3-1 then falling to Skidmore College 3-0.
On Sunday the team lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to Lebanon Valley College, who ended their season last year in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Blue and Gold followed up the loss with a 3-0 defeat against Vassar College in their final match of the weekend.
A bright spot for the South Hill squad was junior setter Marissa Woodcome. Woodcombe was named to the all-tournament team after tallying 135 assists over the four matches, including a career best 44 against Lebanon Valley College.
