The field hockey team picked up its first victory of the season in breathtaking fashion yesterday, coming back from a 2-0 first-half deficit to defeat host Nazareth College 4-3.
Senior forward Jessica Dillon caught fire and scored two goals in a span of 1:28 late in the second half to seal the come-from-behind win. The captain scored her first goal of the season with 7:45 remaining to tie the game at 3. Dillon struck again off a pass from senior forward Heather Kozimor with just over six minutes to play to give the Bombers the lead.
Junior goalkeeper Kelly Singleton stopped 11 shots overall for the South Hill squad. It was her second consecutive game with a double-digit save total.
The Bombers improved to 1–3 on the season and 1–0 in Empire 8 conference play. The Blue and Gold will host SUNY-Oswego at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Higgins Stadium.
