The women’s tennis team played their first road match of the season today, shutting out Alfred University 9-0.
The Bombers have won all three of their conference duals by 9-0 scores this season and have increased their Empire 8 conference winning streak to 54 duals.
Freshman Hannah Worthley earned her first career win with a 6-0, 6-3 win at sixth singles. Junior Allison Young was also victorious in her match in first singles, defeating Alfred University senior Griffin Currie in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 10-8. Senior captain Kelsey Harness won her match in fourth singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-0, and sophomore Becky Guzzo defeated her opponent in third singles 6-3, 7-5.
In doubles play, the pair of Young and Guzzo won its match 8-5. Harness and freshman Allison Vizgaitis defeated the Saxon duo of junior Melissa Boyer and freshman Emily Eisenberg 8-0.
The Blue and Gold will be back in action Thursday against SUNY-Cortland at Wheeler Tennis Courts.
